Names: Sinah Mmabane
HAPG Patient
I am Sinah Mmabane. I am 31 years old.

I came to the Centre in October 2005 because I am HIV positive. I can now eat well because I have no longer sores in my mouth and my stomach pains disappeared. I always came to the clinic but did not get better. I am now going to start the ARV treatment. I am prepared to take the treatment because I see that many are getting better when they drink those pills. I am living in BelaBela since birth. I am feeling much better now although my CD4 is 24.

I am very happy with the help I am receiving and I know I will be in better health then before. I wished all who are HIV positive could get such help.

Names: Sara-Lee Molekoa
HAPG Patient

My name is Sara-Lee Molekoa. I am 24 years old and I live in BelaBela location. I was diagnosed HIV positive in May 2004.

The reason I came to the centre is because I was very ill and helpless and I decided to do the best I could after testing positive. I joined the support group to gain more information and advice. The first time I came here I was very scared not knowing what was going to happen to me. I talked to the counsellor and he was very good to me. The way he talked to me made me to open up and to feel comfortable.

The support I receive in the support group and the information I receive helps me a lot as well as my family and they accepted me. The training as a counsellor changed me a lot.

Even though I did not start ARV’s I think they are good cause I have seen many people are doing well who are taking them. All you have to do is to follow the guidelines and you will survive. I will take them when my time comes but now I have to live positively to keep my immune system strong.

My message to everybody is not to live in doubt. Know your status. The sooner you know the better you can take care of yourself.

What makes me happy about this project is that they are always very supportive. They are there for us when we need them. I can see people are survivors because of ARV’s. We are also spreading information in the community. I wish may God bless this project to be successful.
