I am Sophy Mabokela and I am 28 years old. I am living in Leseding section in BelaBela. I came to stay in BelaBela because I was diagnosed with HIV in 1996 and I wanted to know more about HIV and Aids and I was seeking support.
I came to join the support group in 2000 and I was very scared. I thought I was the only one with HIV. The first person I met and spoke to was Cecile and I felt very good. There are people who care for me. My life started changing and I found many friend. My family too took care of me and they are happy because I am looking well again.
The ARVs brought a lot of differences in my life. I am now looking well and I don’t get sick very now and then.
For people in BelaBela I would like to say that they must not hide their relatives when they are sick because there is help. HIV is not a death sentence. One can live long with HIV-Aids.
I am happy that I was trained to help other people who are HIV positive and I receive a lot of information about HIV-Aids
